What the luxury range covers

400 thread count cotton percale

A plain weave — one thread over, one thread under — which is what gives percale its matte finish, its crisp hand and its coolness. This is the hotel sheet, and it is the specification we supply to hotels. See hotel bedding for the full collection including duvet covers and shams, or white bed sheets for the white and ivory sheet sets, piped editions and limited drops.

500 thread count cotton sateen

Sateen floats more of each thread on the surface of the cloth, producing a light sheen and a more fluid drape. At 500 thread count it is substantial without being warm — the middle of our cotton range. Plain, striped, grid and piped-border designs. See 500 thread count cotton sateen.

1000 thread count single-ply sateen

BEDLAM is one of India's few established suppliers of authentic 1000 thread count bedding. Ours is single-ply long-staple cotton, not multi-ply yarn counted several times over, which is why the cloth is dense and heavy in the hand rather than merely labelled as such. Fair Trade Certified. See the Luxe 1000 thread count collection.

Pure European and Belgian flax linen

Stone-washed and enzyme-washed linen, supple from the first night, naturally breathable and moisture-absorbing. Our limited French Collection is woven from flax imported directly from France. BEDLAM was the first brand to bring pure linen bedding to India. See pure linen bed sheets, or the Linen Cotton Edit for a lighter hand.

Which weave to choose

Percale if you sleep hot, or if what you want is the crisp, cool, matte feel of a made hotel bed. It is the most breathable of the cotton weaves and it gets crisper with washing.

Sateen if you want a silkier hand and a heavier drape. It carries a gentle sheen, sits closer to the body, and softens rather than crisps over time.

Linen if you want texture and maximum breathability. It is the coolest fabric we make, it wrinkles by nature, and it lasts longer than cotton.

A fuller comparison is in 400 TC percale vs 1000 TC sateen.

On thread count

Thread count is the most manipulated number in bedding. A 250 thread count fabric woven with 4-ply yarn is routinely sold as “1000 TC” by counting each strand separately. We publish ply and fibre alongside the count because the count alone tells you very little. The full explanation is in Is 1000 Thread Count Worth It? What the Label Actually Means.

Made to measure

Any bed dimension and any mattress depth, including deep mattresses and toppers, in any of our fabrics. There is no depth limit. Made-to-measure orders start from a ₹5,000 minimum and are dispatched in five working days. See custom sizes and made-to-measure bedding.

Monogramming

Bedding, robes and towels can be monogrammed to order — initials, a name, or a house mark. It is the detail that turns a set into a wedding or housewarming gift. See monogrammed bedding, bath and lifestyle, or the complete guide to monogramming in India.

Beyond the bed

The range extends past sheets: duvet covers, cashmere throws, pure mulberry silk pillowcases, hand-stitched kantha quilts, table linen, bath robes, organic cotton towels and complete bedding bundles.

Luxury Bedding FAQs

What makes bedding luxury rather than simply premium?

Fibre, weave and finishing — in that order. Long-staple cotton spun single-ply, a weave chosen for how it should feel rather than for the number it produces, and finishing done by hand. A high number on a label with none of the above behind it is not luxury bedding.

Is 1000 thread count real, or a marketing number?

Both exist. Much of the 1000 TC bedding sold online is multi-ply yarn counted several times over. Ours is single-ply, so the count on the label is the count on the bed. See the full explanation.

Percale or sateen for Indian weather?

Percale in summer and in rooms without air conditioning — its open weave breathes more. Sateen is comfortable year-round in an air-conditioned bedroom and through winter. Linen is cooler than either.

Can BEDLAM match my mattress?

Yes. Any bed dimension and any mattress depth is made to order, with no depth limit, including for toppers. Towels and bath linen are the exception and are not made to measure.

Is linen worth it in an Indian climate?

For hot sleepers and non-air-conditioned rooms, it is the best fabric we make. Linen is highly breathable, absorbs moisture, and lasts roughly twice as long as cotton. It wrinkles — that is the nature of the fibre, not a fault.

Can bedding be monogrammed, and does it take longer?

Yes to the first. Monogrammed and made-to-measure pieces are produced to order rather than picked from stock, so allow the five-working-day dispatch window.

How should luxury cotton and linen bedding be washed?

Cool machine wash, mild detergent, no bleach on colours, tumble dry low. Percale looks best lightly ironed; linen is meant to look relaxed. Full instructions are in our bedding care guide.

What does a set include?

One flat or fitted sheet with two pillowcases. Extra pillowcases can be added, four-pillowcase sets are available, and duvet covers are sold to match.
